Chris – Vice President of Development, ReD USA

Career history

Since joining Retail Decisions, my primary responsibility has always been to design and enhance the various products and services.  I was initially hired to assist with construction of our card-not-present fraud prevention offering, but have grown to oversee the development of most of our payment processing and fraud detection products.   On the day-to-day, I’m responsible for managing our Development Group, which includes 17 extremely talented full-time developers and consultants.

Training and development with ReD

Early on in my career, I was a 100% hands-on technologist.  As my role has become more strategic in nature, my skills have had to adapt accordingly.  ReD has done a great job allowing me to gain a good level of expertise about the industry we work in by spending time at industry events, with customers and with colleagues.  Furthermore, I’ve always had the opportunity to attend any type of professional training that I wish.

Achievements at ReD

In general, I’m proud of the fact that ReD has allowed me to grow with the company.   My responsibilities have grown with various acquisitions and expansions, and it’s great to know that I’ve been a part of our growth. Specifically, I’m very proud of the products and services that we’ve built from the ground up during the time that I’ve been here.  It's such a great feeling to see something grow from a simple idea to a product that plays a significant part in our company’s success.

What ReD looks for from its employees?

ReD wants people who are interested in succeeding and who understand that success can only come as a result of hard work and dedicated teamwork.  ReD wants people who thrive in fast-pace environments, who can adapt quickly and who can play many different roles when called upon.  We’re not looking for spectators – we want people who will actually join in and help us win.

Future career development

The rate of growth and new opportunity at ReD is amazing.  We continue to build new services and expand upon the ones that we have and I hope that I can continue to be an integral part of their successes.  As the company continues to grow, I hope to have the opportunity to work with new, talented people who can help challenge and elevate me to a higher level.

Qualifications

I studied Computer Science and Psychology at Rutgers University, but most of my true experience has been in the “real world”, including work with two start-ups.  I have a varied background that includes the design, architecture and development of very large systems, products and services for Fortune 100 companies and government agencies, and have acted as an advisor to executive-level management within several of these organizations.

What I enjoy about working at ReD?

I enjoy the fact that working here isn’t just about coming into the office five days a week – it’s about working hard everyday to help achieve an ultimate goal of success, whether it be on a project, winning a new customer or helping in the overall company’s general success, every new day presents a different challenge.  ReD has allowed me to develop my skills and gain the confidence that I can do a good job. I’ve learned so much working here and continue to learn new things everyday.  Most importantly, I’ve gotten to know some great people here and enjoy coming to work everyday…after all, it’s fun to work with your friends!
