RED’S FRAUD PREVENTION ALLOWS AKBARTRAVELSONLINE TO ACCEPT OVERSEAS BUSINESS
17 August 2010 – London – Retail Decisions (ReD), the world leader in payment fraud prevention has announced that AkbarTravelsOnline has chosen ReD’s tailored fraud prevention service, ReD Shield®. The leading Indian online travel agency, AkbarTravelsOnline.com, can now benefit from accepting international transactions that were previously deemed too risky, due to fraud. With the support of ReD’s Indian partner, The Bird Group, ReD has secured a three year agreement and will screen AkbarTravelsOnline's domestic and international transactions from its mail order, telephone order, online and direct sales channels for fraud. ReD’s solution, ReD Shield, combines neural technology with a multi-dimensional approach including customised and merchant-specific complex rules. The service is managed by a team of highly skilled risk analysts who continually monitor changing fraud patterns. ReD provides an instantaneous risk assessment recommendation which determines fraudulent transactions from genuine ones. This means Akbar can offer customers a smooth and uninterrupted service whilst accepting transactions safely. The Indian travel sector is expected to reach over US$40 billion this year, and will rise to nearly US$50 billion by 2012. As one of the biggest players in the Indian online travel market, AkbarTravelsOnline has aggressive growth plans to take advantage of this exploding market. Carl Clump, CEO of ReD says, “Because of the rise in proportion of fraudulent transactions internationally, AkbarTravelsOnline needed a fraud prevention solution that would allow it to tap into growing demand for travel tickets outside India. ReD’s extensive experience in reducing fraud in the online travel and airline sectors will help AkbarTravelsOnline expand its business significantly.” Vijay Kesavan, the CEO of AkbarTravelsOnline.com says, "The reason AkbarTravelsOnline chose ReD was because of its multi-dimensional approach to fraud prevention and fully managed services which satisfied our requirements. Now we can look forward to providing our customers the highest levels of service and at the same time explore different avenues to increase revenue. This deal has also generated interest in ReD’s fraud prevention services from other travel industry players in India." Clump announces, “Our international focus has led us to be one of the first fraud prevention experts to actually have presence in India. This strengthens the support, local expertise and responsiveness we can offer to our customer base on the Indian subcontinent.” Notes for editors: About ReD The company has offices in Australia, China, Germany, South Africa, United Kingdom, and United States, with representation in India, Korea, Japan, and South America.
